Vanessa Silvestre Paulo (1982, Portugal)
Vanessa Silvestre Paulo’s practice investigates questions of proximity and distance through photography. She is guided by an interest in notions of looking, in the history and indexes of the photographic medium and its relationship to seeing through or beyond our own eye. She explores natural phenomena, the qualities of organic form and our relationship to the natural world. It draws analogies: it is about analogue processes, the indexical, but also highlights the capacity to produce associations of thoughts that rely on analogical thinking. Vanessa is a graduating student from the Royal College of Art (2017).
